Trainixy AcuCut Ruler

I have been quilting for nineteen years and cutting has always been the part I dreaded. Not because I was bad at it. Because I could never fully trust it. Every strip felt like a gamble.
I used the AcuCut for the first time on a Saturday morning and cut strips for three hours without stopping. Not because I had to. Because I wanted to see if it would keep working. It did. Every single strip. I did not adjust one piece during layout.
I called my daughter to tell her. She did not fully understand why I was emotional about a ruler. But quilters will.

I am sixty seven years old and my hands shake. Not badly. But enough that I had started cutting slower and slower trying to compensate. My strips were still off. I thought it was just something I had to accept.
The slot does not care about my hands. I drop the blade in and push forward. The walls keep it straight. My hands just move the cutter. They do not have to do the precision work anymore.
I cut an entire quilt top last week without a single adjustment during assembly. First time in thirty years that has happened.

I had two yards of Liberty of London sitting in my cupboard for four years. Every time I thought about cutting into it I put it back. I knew my cuts were not accurate enough to do it justice.
I used the AcuCut for two weeks on regular cotton first. Every strip came out identical. Every block squared up without trimming. So last Tuesday I got out the Liberty fabric.
It cut perfectly. First try.
